well, it seemed everything was fine until it wasn't as he seemed to be losing engine power. not many good options for a smooth landing out that way. I don't know if they flipped over. If you flip over in a remote location, you need something to break the canopy to egress. The escape dynamics with two up could be different that when only with one.
A Van's RV-7A, N1FB, was substantially damaged when it crashed under unknown circumstances near Gila Bend, Arizona. The pilot and passenger received minor injuries.
Preliminary ADS-B data shows that the airplane departed KGYR and climbed to a cruising altitude of 4400 ft. About fourteen minutes after takeoff, the airplane entered a descending left-hand turn and crashed in a remote area near the Painted Rock Reservoir.
