piles and piles of paper

and you know what that means! Yep, wings arrived yesterday, and they're inventoried. I'm still working on finishing up elevators, but I don't have too far to go on those.

I managed to booger up an elevator skin pretty good, but I talked to vans this morning and the consensus is to build on (as usual). It's ugly, but it'll fill up ok :)

The right elevator structure is assembeld and drilled. Both skins have stiffeners riveted on.

Tonight I'll get the left elevator structure assembled and drilled, then disassemble both skeletons and debur/dimple/prime, hopefully I'll be riveting the elevators tomorrow night. Then I'm thinking I'll hang the elevators on the HS, hang the rudder on the VS, and hang the whole lot of it from my living room ceiling :D Being a bachelor rules!!

It is pretty cool getting all of those parts, and maybe a little bit of a shock also. I think that is about the time I realized "Hey! I'm building an airplane! What in the world am I thinking!" Still hits me once in a while when I'm out in he shop working away. The other night it must have hit Luke when he was helping me get the firewall in place. He looked at me and asked "Do you ever just think Wow, we are building an airplane?"

Yep, I sure do. 8) One bite at a time. Have fun!

Not a chance. I've spent since last fall working on getting my shop usable and preparing parts, but very little actual assembly. Things will go pretty quick on the tail once I get the parts primed which should start in a few weeks if things come together that I am working on. I'm one of those types that doesn't get to put much time in on the project, but I enjoy it so much I don't care how long it takes. You got to work at your own pace and every once in a while take a step back, look at your work, and like John says "Hey! I'm building an airplane!".

for sure! I just hope I get better at it in a hurry... I feel like I spend an awful lot of time screwing stuff up! It's not too bad in the tail, cause I can just say to myself, "self, it's ok if you screw it up, we can always build another elevator". However, things are about to change a lot!

Left elevator's drilled, now both are waiting to come back apart for the debur/dimple/prime lovefest.
