Firewall & cowl dimensions?

Post by 1:1_Scale »

I've been brainstorming the packaging of the Deltahawk engine in a -7, and the dimensions for the firewall and cowling aren't jumping out at me from the preview plans (if they're even there). Can anyone give me something to work with? I need to finish getting my shop prepped, but this stuff is always bouncing around in my head :dunno:

I think I asked this same question when I was looking at the Jabiru 5100. Let me search to see what I can find...

Well, I couldn't find what I thought I could, but I did come up with this thread...

http://www.rivetbangers.com/cgi-php/for ... owl+length

That shows the cowl length is exactly 4'. I went out and measured my firewall, and it is 40" wide, and 28.5" high.

Hope that helps! :)

Thanks Chad, now the next question is, I assume that fuselage length was without the rudder? :)

Nope...the airplane is 20' 4" long spinner to rudder, so actually, the cowl is probably a few inches shorter than 4' since that dimension includes the spinner.

OK :) Given the firewall dimensions, I should be able to scale the cowl enough to at least get a rough idea as to what's going on inside the darn thing
