Question for you guys doing tail draggers

Post by Brantel »

Question for you guys with the taildraggers that have the rear fuse done....

Are the two "keeper" rivets even needed to hold the spring mount in place until fitted with the vertical stab? Mine fits like a glove and the rear bulkhead keeps it in place by stradeling it with the notch so what are these rivets really doing anyway?

They are keeping it from moving... not just now, but for when you drill it later.

No way, no how are ya gonna be able to cleco it when ot comes to the drilling process.

Put 'em in.

Besides, they will keep the shavings that invariably fall between the sheets to a minimum whe you DO drill it.

Yep, agreed with CJ. You won't be able to drill it properly without those buggers in there. I thought the same thing as you when I did it. The plans say they're needed, and they are.
