forward mount block for tip up

Post by gsimatos »

The forward mounting block for the canopy strut #725 had 3 holes drilled in it. The middle hole accepts the ball which in turn accepts the strut. My question is what size hole do I need for the middle hole, the hole that gets tapped to accept the ball fitting?? The plans ask for 5/16 x 18. So do I use a 5/16 drill?? Thanks G

My tap and die kit called for the pilot hole for a 5/16 x 18 tap to be 17/64". I don't know if that is universal for all taps, but I would imagine it is.
