Hey guys (or gals),
Check out the Van's website if your emp kit was shipped between July and Nov 2004. You may have a HS-710 with a horizantal flange that is too short. The part will still bolt up correctly, but you will need to check the length of the flange.

fixed by a mistake
I caught this but only after I made a mistake! I had my whole stab ready to rivet together when I realized my edge distance on HS-710 was not good. So I replaced the part.
The part I received was the correct one... the one I had shipped with my kit (around middle of August) had the incorrect/shorter one.
So I am somewhat glad I mis-drilled that hole... otherwise I wouldn't have caught it. I might send the original part back to Van's to see if they'll credit me.

HS-710
I don't think the RV-9 uses this part. The .pdf file only says -7/7A. This is the top part of the center of the forward horizontal stabilizer spar. Builders note-be lucky that it comes as is----on the -4 and -6 we had to make it from just a piece of blank aluminum angle (a tedious chore). One of the many things that speeds up building the newer designs.
