Rivet head on HzSTAB
Rivet head on HzSTAB
Noticed on some picts. people have the shop head on the aft side of the rear HZSpar spar and visa versa for others.
The general rule of thumb when installing rivets is to put the manufacturers head on the thinner material. If you put the shop head on the thinner material it occasionally distorts.
So, if I were you, I would put the shop head on the doubler on the rear of the HS.

Here's my thought.
It's not authoritive guidance ... just an individual perspective that I follow.
Mike -
I totally agree with you - with the one exception of where the "real life" act of setting the rivet may make be a problem.
In this case - it is better to get a good rivet set than to follow the rule and put the shop head is against the thinner material.
In other words is is more important to get a good rivet joint than than to put the manufacture head on the thinner material material.
All others - feel free to comment.
