inspection port/ forward upper cabin structure tip-up

For the tip up you have a skin that attaches at the firewall and extends back to the forward edge of the canopy. Once this is riveted in you can only reach this area from below. Has anyone considered putting an inspection/service opening in the skin?? I have a colleague here who has an RV6 and he wishes he had put one in and also notes the RV4s have such an inspection port. It would be a great idea. I think Vans might tell you it's too much of a structural piece to be popping holes in though. Let us know what they say.

Tons of people do this on both the tipup and the slider.

Ok You guys, thanks. Really like the idea of not having to do the twisted pretzel thing UNDER the panel. I will let you know what I find out, Cheers G

lots of folks do it i really dont think its a problem. vans used to say no. as brantel said but may have since changed their mind.
