Heater box cable
I have the Avery heater box with the control arm inside the cabin. I bought the heater control cable from Van's . It's long. Very long. I'd like to see some images of how people are routing this cable since the OP drawing from van's does not do a very good job of explaining it. It also appears to secure the cable to the firewall but does not indicate how... and does not indicate a route back to the panel (or thereabouts); it only shows it as far as it going through the firewall angle via a #10 hole.
Post your pictures, please. and thanks.

Bob,
Here are a few pics of how I ran my cable:
From here I attached it to the bottom of the subpanel and then off to the panel. The routing of this cable will vary with installation because of where the heater control knob will be placed in the panel.
As far as the length of the cable, I cut mine down significantly. The way I did it was use a cheap pair of wire strippers (the type with different size holes in them) to separate slightly the coiled casing from the cable. Then I used a dremel with a cutoff wheel carefully to finish cutting through the coil. This assured the inner cable was untouched.

Yup, just an Adel clamp attached to one of the bolts used to hold on the heater box. FYI, i wish I put a AN3 nutplate on the front side of the heater box here. It was somewhat a pain to install this bolt/nut solo with the engine on and everything rigged.RVNewsletter wrote: What's the attachment to the firewall consist of there. That's also on the plans but the hardware is not called out.

First thing to do is figure out where the knob is being mounted.
2. Now route the cable (use tie-wraps if needed) to the heatbox.
3. Grab a Sharpie and mark the spiral outer sheath just short of the box....that's where you'll be cutting.
4. Now pull the knob out 6" or so, this allows you to chop the cable with Lineman pliers, or Dremel or angry woodchuck if that's all you have.
5. Lightly touch up the end on the grinder.
Push knob back in fully and you're ready to go. You can fine tune the inner wire length when you reinstall.

Brian-
Damn I feel like a fool for not thinking to pull the cable out beforehand! Good method!

Follow, but follow only if ye be men of valor! For the entrance to this cave is guarded by a creature so fowl, so cruel that no man yet has fought with it and lived. Bones of four fifty men lie strewn about its lair! So, brave knights, if you do doubt your courage, or your strength, come nay further, for death awaits you all . . . with nasty big pointy teeth!
