Tech inspection

Post by hydroguy2 »

I had a repeat builder come over Saturday. He isn't a EAA Tech inspector, but has been involved with ~20 builds. He built his RV-4 in 1992 or something like that. I build alone and very few pilots have even seen my project. So this was a good opportunity to have things checked before I rivet the forward skin in place.

He pointd out a few items to fix and things I may want to add and one I should watch closely at first engine start. All in all, my list is short. Gave it his blessing and mentioned the words "very professional". :yay:

Then we went over what I need to get done sooner than later.
1. get Vans bill of sale.....email request sent 4/18
2. N number reserved.....done, N155BK
3. registration......waiting for other paperwork
4. check schedule with FAA for inspection.....ok not yet.

Exciting times are ahead.

1 question. I'm filling out the AC form 8050-1 and it asks for "type" of registration. Individual, Co-owner, Corp, Gov't. etc.

I always figured I would just do like our cars and list both Kris and I as owner. But I got to thinking is this the best way to go? Any compelling reason to list individual (me only). Liability reduced(for the family) at all by having only a sole owner.

After 30yrs together, I'd like to think we have a strong partnership, but at times I may be owned by her. luckily no market for a 49yr old slave.

Data point: me and Brittne are co-owners on our registration.

Did some checking on Montana law. Individual or co-owned will have no effect for liability reasons with regards to family members.

So Co-owned it is!
