My second RV, kinda of...
Would like to say hello to all. A few months ago I bought an RV-8 tail kit. When the kit arrived, I opened the box to see all the cool parts. At the time, I was finishing repairing my basement after a minor flood. I was also considering moving to an airpark home.
So, I sold the RV-8 tail kit.
Now the basement is finished (half the basement is finished/half is storage) and instead of moving, I found a t-hangar 10 minutes from my house for only $200/mo!! (I am curently flying a RANS S-6S I built) There was no need to move now; especially since my house is worth less than half what I paid for it.
So, today I ordered an RV-7A tail kit! It was a tough choice between the 8 and 7A (they are so different!) but I'm really excited with my decision for the 7A. I'm just a side-by-side kinda guy...
Today I spent a few hours building a workbench in the 'dungeon' part of my basement. I've been looking at Mike Bullock's RV-7 builder's log and see that he recommended applying a few coats of polyurethane to the top of the workbench. That's what I'm doing now...
Anyway, nice to be here and I look forward to reading a lot about the RV!

Mark,
That table sure does look familiar! I really did like the protection the coating of polyurethane gave to the MDF. The only issue I've ever had with the table is I have broken off some corners when I have had something clamped down and applied too much pressure. Just be aware of that!

ChX, I will post pics as soon as the tail kit arrives. I sleazy have all the tools so I'm ready to go!
Mike, I left a 2" overhang to use for clamping parts so I will have to be careful! You have a real nice builders log too. Thanks for posting it online. Yours and others will help me out a lot. This is my third airplane build, but my first all aluminum so I have to admit I'm a little nervous about doing everything correctly. The builders sites help a lot!

It's here! I just received my RV-7 tail kit.
I have a bulder's log here...http://www.aircraftstickers.com/RV7A/RV7A.htm
You won't learn anything that's not already logged in other build logs, but if you want to follow the progress, that's where I will be posting pics.
Bet get that inventory started!

Thanks Chad, I copied and pasted the page code from my S-6S log and forgot to change that title. Fixed!
Funny story...years ago when I was first applying to the airlines I wrote a real nice cover letter to send with my resume. In it, I asked, "Is XXX airline looking for a highly trained, motivated pilot..."
Of course I used the same cover letter for all the airlines. I would just have to change the XXX to YYY or whatever. Well, I sent Great Lakes a cover letter that said, "Is Horizon Airlines..."
OOPS! I forgot to change the airline! Needless to say, I never heard from Great Lakes...
