I also intend to install a shiny stainless steel sheet on the panel under the strobe to provide for reflection. I hope to aquire some thin stainless sheet this week.
I did not feel like installing plate-nuts for the lense attach fasteners so I cut up some light crowsfoot weave glass and cut up some 1/8 inch epoxy circuitboard into small squares and positioned these squares over the glass/epoxy layup where the 6-32 machine screws would penetrate the wingtip. I drilled the holes and tapped the tip glass and epoxy circuitboard to 6-32. Seems to work OK.
After the wiring is complete and painting is done I will run a small bead of sealant around the perimeter of the lense to seal out rainwater and smooth the airflow.
Cheers, Pete
