Bending the HS 810 and HS 814

Post by Cherokee Driver »

Any tips on bending these parts? I did not see any posts in the screw up chronicals so I am thinking that it is not a huge deal. I just thought I would ask around in hopes that I don't make a stupid blunder and have to write the first post on botching this part. :o

Hey CD. It's pretty straight foreward. Do make yourself a cardboard template. Don't overbend them. If you do overbend them it probably (if checking against a template) wont be by much and you can bend back to where you want it.....once.

jim's right, use a template! it's very easy to do, but whack and check, if using a deadblow hammer. that's how i did it. whack it, check it, etc. until the 6 degrees is bent. don't work harden the metal...

I put mine into an aluminum lined vise. Then I bent it by hand to a template pattern,

Very helpful advice. Measured everything a bunch of times, double checked the square...and took a lot of time. The template was key. I was making a lot more of this than I should have.

Got'er done. Thanks guys!

Nuttin' to it but ta do it!

Re: posting a new thread...

I personally don't mind multiple threads on the same topic.

If an old thread was truly THAT valuable, someone will hyperlink it to the new thread.

Besides, it gives new people an opportunity to weigh in on it and we all could stand a chance of learning something new!
