RV8 Canopy Draft

Post by RobDob »

Morning all

My RV8 has finally taken to the skies and we have a horrendous draft coming from the rear of the canopy! The British winter is imminent and I don't want to get wet or frozen to death!

Has anyone else had this problem, and how did you fix it?

Many thanks for any suggestions!

Oh yeah...everyone has this problem. I was very disappointed with my final canopy skirt "fit" after everything was bolted together. I had worked SO HARD to get a tight fit while forming, clamping, gluing and riveting my skirt.
Anyways...I grabbed 2 rolls of generic, soft, foam-rubber door seal from a car parts store; one thicker than the other. The kind where you just peal off the backing paper and press it into position. Between the 2 thicknesses, I was able to seal nearly all the whistling wind out of my cockpit.
Cheers

Thanks, I guess I'll just have to keep fiddling with some foam seal! :)

Here is a pretty nice inflatable seal.
