I was finally able to finish up the rudder metal work this weekend for PJ. The
one thing that I had been dreading and kept putting off was the countersinking
of the AEX wedge for the trailing edge. Ill post some pictures later but the end
result worked out well and it was easier than I had thought it would be! I am
happy with it so I thought I would share !!

Here you go John. The first is a picture of the rudder on my drilling surface. This is after the dimples and countersinking have been done.
Then here is a close up of the trailing edge. Its not perfect, but its pretty darn good I think. One thing I've learned, or at least have started to learn, is to stop before I create scrap. I might be able to get this fit tighter but dont want to jeapordize the whole rudder in the process.

Nice crisp edge! I think one thing I will do, once I am flying and all tested is to swap over to the -9 rudder and see what differences there are with regard to handling.
Looks great, Spike!

That is in the basement. And as you noticed I share space with the cats.
Its not uncommon for the kitten to be cozied up on the perch watching me
work

Not currently. I can take a picture of it tonight though if you wish Its basically a wedge of aluminum that gets sandwiched between the left and right skins of the rudder at the trailing edge. The skins get riveted together through the wedge. The skins are dimpled and the wedge is countersunk on both sides to accept the dimples. Ill see if I can get a picture tonight.

Hey Spike, Do you have a picture of an AEX wedge? Just curious as to what it is.
