Wings!

Post by Joe Parish »

My wings have left Van's. Do not have a delivery date yet. I am wondering about getting them off the Fed Ex truck? I am planning on having two appliance dollies for getting them up the driveway and into the garage. Can two guys lift them off the truck and get them to the ground? As you know they are both about 200 lbs. I am not counting on help from the driver. I don't believe it will be a problem, but thought I would ask. I want to be prepared when they arrive. Any advice appreciated.

Wings are not that heavy.  Move one at a time, one on each end, should have no problem.Randy

Patti and I move our wings around the basement without issue. You should be fine. The only advice i have is to build the cart that will hold the two of them together for storage. It will make life easier.

Are these Quick Build or Slow Build?
My slow build kits (wings/fuselage) have come on a FedEx truck with a lift gate. The driver manuevered the boxes out with a hand truck (trash can cart thingy) on to the lift gate. I put it on a single furniture dolly and easily pushed it up the driveway and into the garage.

These are slow build wings, Bruce. Sorry I did not mention that.

Me and my dad moved mine from the ABF truck in to the garage, no problem. Didn't need a dolly, but I did have one on hand if needed...

Ahhh, in that case ...

I had a friend and the driver help for a total of 3. It was a bit of a bear considering the terrain at my abode. If you have level property 2 or 3 can make an easy go of it.

Was able to do it alone with furniture dollies (the flat carpeted wood kinds on rollers). The driver helped get it off the truck, and with two dollies I could push both boxes up my relatively flat driveway to the garage.
