engine/cowling alignment?

Post by Joe Casey »

I have had the engine hanging on the firewall for about a year, and am now ready to install the cowl. My question is, will there be further droop of the engine (as the engine is run), and if so, how much should I plan for?

A year of it hanging will typically be the most sag you will encounter. I say typically because it does depend on the type of mounts (Lord, Barrie, or...), and the rubber will be affected by your climate.

Since it has been a year, and mine was the same way, I would measure no more than 3/16" below the top of the spinner. That's what I did, and I still have 3/16" after year 2. I don't anticipate any further sag, and it looks nice.
