How to - Cutting Trim Tab Hinge

How do I trim down the Hinge that is provided for the Trim Tab. I have mostly finished the trim tab and I am at the point of cutting the hinge to the right size.

I must have missed a step, because I can't find where I was supposed to do this but I'm at the point of attaching it anyway.

Should I use a hacksaw, bandsaw, metal cutting wheel, etc???

And yes, the trim tab ends were very stressful to bend. I ended up buying another skin because the first bend ended in disaster.

A Dremel with a cutoff wheel goes through it like butter. It's soft enough you can cut it with the snips but that will warp it some.

I did all mine with the cutoff wheel and then hit it with a file to clean it up.

OH! This when I would use my most FAVORITE tool on the bench!

I use the Dremel. I use it daily and it never gets put away. I keep it on a hook near the bench and it is used DAILY on my project.

Do you have one? If not, GET ONE!

They are the nuts!

I'm still using the Dremel I purchased over 25 years ago. We will need to have a little service for it if it ever dies

Greatest little tool in the shop. I've used it to debur the flange relief cuts and other tight spots.

Jim, do yourself a favor and get some #500 bits for the dremel. I usually get them on ebay from a vendor called Rose Tool.

They are miniature scotchbrite polishing wheels! Soooo handy!

Well, I couldn't find my Dremel cutoff wheel so I used my bandsaw. Worked great.

Trim tab is done. Yeah!
