Engine desiccant - time to renew

Post by A2022 »

after 4 or 5 years, it is time to renew the engine desiccant as it is only able to bring the humidity level down to 26%. I'll renew it in a vacuum oven at 180F. I prefer to keep the engine humidity less than 10%.

rejuvenated the desiccant and it should reduce the engine humidity to less than 10%. 12 hrs heat with vacuum will pull a lot of water from these pellets. hopefully they will be good for four more years. oil looks OK. going to 100 hrs before changing. the engine is on life support! I'll let you know in twenty years if I think it was worth the trouble of keeping it dry.
