Jim,

I went ahead and purchased a VCR tape on a Lyc engine assembly. It really helped. It was not complete but using that with the manual sure helped. I know your done but for others thinking about building up their own engine I would highly recommend it.

detailed manual

That's good to hear on the parts fit Jim.

Geez it seems like the parts supplier would also supply a detailed assembly manual. Maybe it's a liability issue.

I think the tape was put out by Mattituck. (sorry, I fly better than I spell) It was really helpful. You still have the hunt and find issues with all the bolts, nuts, washers, seals, ....... But when it comes to installation on some of the finer details the tape really helped. Like what side of the rod nuts is the top or bottom, same with rings.... little things which you don't generally think about. I have a friend using mine right now so I don't have all the information on it. If anyone is interested I can give him a call and pass on the name so someone else can order one if needed.

It's just this first time thru that's the killer. If I did this again (and I might) the job would be much faster since I wouldn't be spending so much time looking up info. Just trying to figure out if my cylinders were choke or not took up two days of my time. They are and it turns out that figuring it out is brain dead easy.

At the end of the day here is what I've gotten done so far.

Now it's time to order the mags and starter and finish the fuel system. By the way the fit of exhaust system is flawless. Shown here is just a trial fit. It took about ten minutes to put it on.
