Vetterman Exhaust ...

Post by Spike »

Just some interesting thoughts on the Vetterman exhaust as I have not gotten anywhere near this far. I went to visit a friend's project the other day. He is building an 8A with an O-320. He had just finished installing a Vetterman's exhuast on his bird and I thought I would post some up close photos of it.

In short, the quality of the work is nothing short of exemplary. The welds are beautiful, the fit is spot on, and the bends are clean. The thing that blew my mind was that not only was the fit perfect, but the finish and the detail work was well thought out. All tube edges are chamfered nicely and all of the needed hardware to mount to the aircraft are included.

Here are some shots.

I too went with Vetterman. I actually purchased an exhaust from Aircraft Spruce but one of the crossovers would not clear the mixture and throttle mounting bracket. It was advertised as an O-360 RV6 design but did not fit my application. They were great about the return with a full repayment. The Vetterman has both crossovers in front of the carb and I have had no problems at all.
