RV of the month club!

Post by captain_john »

Come to Jack's Hangar to see his RV-9A!

He is doing a great job on his finish kit and all are welcome, dreamers, builders and flyers alike!

It is our goal to do one of these each month and develop a network of local builders.

Date; Sunday Feb 24th 2008
Where; New Bedford MA KEWB
Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Directions by Air:
Fly to New Bedford (KEWB)
Tell ground control that you’re going to "Jack’s T Hangar".

Park in front of Jack’s Hangar.

If Driving:
From Route 195 in New Bedford take Highway 140 North (exit 13)
Exit at exit 4
At end of exit ramp, turn Right
Go to stop sign. TURN RIGHT, regardless of the sign that says Airport is to the left.
Follow road for approx 1 mile to Stop sign (Shawmut Ave.)
Turn left and go straight all the way to gate.
Phone and someone will open gate.

Coffee, Hot Chocolate, and Doughnuts will be served!

PM or email me for Jack's contact information. I don't want to post it up on the interweb (I LOVE that new found word!) without his permission.

See you there!

No Worries Keith,

I think a few people took some pictures and maybe they can post a few here.

Also, If everyone is interested, I'd consider hosting a visit to my 8 project (say the 3rd weekend in March) as long as I'm not cutting in front of anyone elses plans to host next.

Let me know if you guys are game and I'll set it up and mark the date.

Great Day!!

Post by USCANAM »

I don't think you could have asked for a better day in the middle of
Winter for a RV Gathering. While a tad cool, the sun was bright, and the air was smooth according to the Fly-ins.
My thanks to all who flew and drove to EWB for our inaugural "RV a Month Gathering".
In all, over 20 RV flyers, builders, and interested prospective builders showed up for what was scheduled to be a 4 hour time frame, but turned into a 7 hour one. That worked out to a 3 hour bonus of RV builders sharing time together!!
A couple of builders were so enthusiastic about coming, that they came a day early....and altho we had no food to offer, the conversation and exchanging of ideas was great.

Reflecting upon the events of the day, I realized that these past 15 months, I had been so involved in the building, that I had not communicated much with the RV builders in the area. This came to light when some of the attendees today, noticed, or pointed out some minor omissions or changes that I had not caught, but I would have surely noticed , had I been "in the loop", since there is some very similar construction aspects, even tho we have different models.
I see this as a very positive reason to have these Gatherings in order to have as many sets of eyes scan our projects as they are being constructed.
This is where builders will share problems and solutions that they have encountered, and could probably save the current builder a lot of grief by enlightening them. Fortunately, in my case they were minor and will be rectified in a few hours.
Once again, thanks to all that came, and stay tuned for next months location and date....probably in Marion MA
Regards
Jack
Oops, I guess Dave was composing his post and beat me to it..
Yes, it will be at Daves RV8 project.
The date is your choice Dave...Let us know

JR (nice initials) welcome to RB!

I spoke to CJ earlier and it sounds like everyone had a good time. It does seem to help catch things just visiting the board on a regular basis. Looks forward to seeing some photos of your project.

Jack, thanks for hosting! I think everyone had a good time.

Before the event, WS and I did a rendezvous over a smokestack between our fields and Bill H. shot a couple of REALLY GOOD pics of his plane! He won't admit it, but the Arrow was faster than he thought!

Keith, sorry you missed it. See you at Dave's next month?

Dave, you got a date set yet? Maybe a Hangar 5 visit after yours so we can get some fly-in attendees?

John, good to chat with you yesterday!

Lemme get the pics I took uploaded and you can get a mind's eye perspective.

Cool! It's in my schedule!

In a couple of weeks, we need to post a new thread about it and let this one die off.

What time are ya thinking?

John,

I think 10:00 to 2:00 is a good window to work with.
That way anyone flying to PYM or EWB (the two closest airports from me) don't have to get up at the crack of dawn, and they have plenty of time to get back before dark.

I'll keep with the usual coffee and doughnuts if you want, but I think we could even swing some subs or pizza at noon'ish too !

Starting up a new thread with the details is a good idea.

Who Did I Promise the Cradle To??

Post by USCANAM »

Hi All
When I had the Feb. RV of the Month Meeting at my hangar. I mentioned that I had a fuselage cradle "for the taking".
Before I sent the cradle to "that great fireplace fuel bin", please let me know who it was that I promised it to.....
Thanks
Jack
