I believe this qualifies for bonehead move of the day.
Lucky for me a local multi builder told me a while back that it is available locally. I will make a call tomorrow to see if they have one in stock. I marked everything from the backside of the angle and marked the 1/8 from the other leg of the angle and drilled for the radius which bit me in the butt. That is the ironic part, apparently my head was up my butt during this whole scenario. I moved on and the other one turned out great. Hopefully the local steel shop has it in stock and it doesn't hurt the wallet to bad.

Unfortunately shipping may cost more than the part if you have to get the replacement from Vans. Been there, done that.

What I find that helps is to cut the parallel cut first. That will give you about 1/8" safety margin when doing the perpendicular cut.

When I started building my RV-6A in 1999 I screwed up a part on Horizontal Stab and had to re-order from Vans. They told me I was not the first one to screw up a part and that the average builder at that time spent between $300 and $400 in replacement parts. Believe me by the time N 784TB was signed off in 12/2008 I paid more than that not factoring in inflation. Joe if this is the first part you screwed up you are getting by Cheap

By no means is this the first part I have screwed up Bob. I have all sorts of little dings and such thru out the tail and wings. I am familiar with re-ordering parts from Van's. I want airworthy not perfect. I did find a local steel shop with the angle and it only set me back $16. I was a little aggressive going at that first part. After messing it up I took my time on the second one and all turned out good.
