outside lap seat belt holder. needed to choose one of the three finalists. I chose the middle one and buckled up and went for a flight. I never looked for a single belt. just reach and it's there. very easy to stow and secure. I like it a lot! clean baby. one less thing to think about before a flight.

must be the season for speed. wing tie down fairings and drain fairings. drain fairing are improved from the original I made 4 years ago, strengthened design and material change to resist fuel seem to be doing the trick. my right hand side fuel drain fairing is 4 yrs original, my left hand side had weeping fuel and developed a crack, replaced with new design and working well.

double cup holder final check. it fits two cups with lids and easily removeable. doesn't matter if you bump it. it can take a beating. the double cup holder will be my standard configuration. I like it.

eye glass mount position. I am tired of item placed on the side of the seat sliding backwards. from now on, I will not store anything at the side of the seat. I am not required to wear eyeglasses anymore when I drive but still required for flight. I always need to have them in the plane.

the last item to squirrel away is the rotating nosewheel chock. I only need to carry one chock because it will secure the aircraft completely. behind the seat, under the panel? I think the correct location for this is behind the passenger's side seat.

when I was out running, I found a nice pair of scissors in the middle of the road. you wonder how stuff gets in the middle of the road. I've found cell phones, money, a purse, etc. in the middle of the road.

working to get a concept for storage of the nose wheel Kansas chock under the back rest bar. I noticed how easy it was to remove and reinstall the seat backrest and the seat because I didn't have to mess with the belts. it's easier because I didn't touch a single seat belt.

Seatback bar storage.... concept. I really don't know if this will work. needs to be flexible. I want to be able to reach back with one hand and rip the chocks out of there. yes, these chocks are worth a special place. they are that good.

Image

Image

some ideas beginning.... but still not sure how this will work. they may be locked in there. how to get them out? perhaps I should step it down and just make it a tray.

Image

Image

made a couple of thin and strong test prints using a new printing style. that aspect is looking good.

Seatback bar storage.... prototype. I'll try something like this. total printed weight = 40 grams.

Image

everything fit nicely, just like the CAD fit. first printed parts were installed. material is thin, strong and the total part weight was 38 grams. a quick job. reach back with the right hand, put a finger in between and rip them out of there very easily. I see how they fare when I really load the baggage area, but I think they will be mostly out of the way. fun stuff.

it is really nice to be able to model it because it reduces trial and error. boom, you are done. from concept to install for this one was 28 hrs. the Kansas nose wheel chock is now squirreled away and the areas around the seats are clutter free.

for an alternat part, I may close up the ends and make a long tray for the opposite side for storing knickknacks.

seatback bar storage tray.... done. thin, flexible and strong. I moved the chocks to the pilot's side because I can easily get them when I exit the aircraft and I thought the tray could be better served on the co-pilot's side. I popped them on and off several times and it was easy and yet very secure. I'm getting things cleaned up. I like this 9. weight of the tray = 50 grams (0.11 lb). time for some test flights. :)

seatback bar storage tray. so naturally, the request is to make it bigger to carry more "stuff".

throttle knob. I installed a new throttle cable recently and I removed the supplied knob and replaced with the printed one I had been using. I threw the suppled knob in the trash. I also ordered a spare throttle cable and I looked at that knob today. no wonder my hand would hurt after a flight with a knob like that. best thing I ever did was to get rid of that knob.

seatback bar storage tray. first one to print and installed. I had some warpage at one end of the tray, but I think I know to correct that in the future. I cut the warpage off. the weight for the final version of this tray is planned to be 79 grams. popped the smaller tray out and installed the new tray. just another place to store stuff that doesn't add much weight and it is accessible in flight. printed in 3 hrs. some work still needed to clean it up. hey, I could put my cigarettes back there! :)

seatback bar storage tray.... bigger. running high speed and I expect some ringing from head dynamic deflection (should show up well on gloss black). projected print time 2.5 hrs, less the end cap. then assembly.
