what are these tools?

Post by A2022 »

a guy dropped off a bunch of stuff he didn't need. I don't know how these are to be used. a small diameter stem with a small blade out the side.

9 lbs clecos.

They use these to deburr holes. Stick it in your drill. spin it up insert the tool into the hole and it deburrs both sides with that little piece on the side of the shaft.

thx bruce. does it ream out material from the hole? nice that it can do both sides. seems to be an ideal tool. I'll try it and attempt a video.

no video but some photos. the blade is on a spring, and you can press this tool thru the hole to deburr both sides at the same time. some photos of the before and after (best I could do). my conclusion is the tool is better to be operated at higher speeds. I was using an electric drill. however, I do not know the optimum speed. the deburr seems OK but perhaps could be better.

it is sad when it takes me 15 minutes to find my cleco pilers, but I don't miss sore hands.

I think this tool is best used for places where you can only access one side. Sort of like a blind rivet, or on a very large surface (like a Boeing) where in production you wouldn't want to have to waste time deburring twice for each hole.

I was probably deburring too slowly, and the blade may have been dull. it was a used tool. I found a Burraway web site that specifies 4000 rpm for a .125-inch alum hole. this website shows the deburr tool cutting on the for foreside when the tool is inserted in the hole and the backside when it is withdrawn. when used properly it is probably very good.
