RV7 elevator gust lock replacement set... the thin horizontal stab of the RV7 makes these the highest loaded because of the short wheelbase. this is the thinnest web I make, .068-inch. the nylon/glass fiber is 4x stronger than the ASA that I first used to print these. this material did not exist five years ago, so the industry is advancing. where we will be in five more years is unknown, but it is looking good. these are printed in white so as not to stain the paint from nylon dye bleed thru. you can paint or stain the upper outer surface for better visibility if desired. this material is $400 per spool, so if you are printing it, try not to waste too much. :)

Today's order for cowl inlet air dams led me to examine the experimental version with turbulators that I've utilized for the past two years. They appear to be in good condition. Initially, I was concerned that the turbulators might develop cracks, but they have held up well. Considering this, I'm contemplating offering these turbulators as an optional feature.

I misplaced my development files for the Version 2 air dams with turbulators, marking the first loss in eight years. Fortunately, having the parts on hand made it feasible to recreate them. Here's their appearance for the RV9. Based on encouraging test results over recent years, I've opted to release them. They even out the Cylinder Head Temperatures (CHTs) and restrict cowl airflow. Even at steep angles of attack, airflow can still move over the top. I've employed variations of this air dam design for five years, and they remain in pristine condition. Installation takes a mere five minutes with a micro ratchet. While most RV pilots avoid cold-weather flying, these air dams are advantageous for maintaining engine warmth. Cooler weather brings smoother air, enhanced aircraft performance, and the option to layer up for warmth without the nuisance of sweat in your eyes.

how's the above AI written version? I just type some general thoughts, highlight the text, and an AI written version pops up. it takes the bother away from the stupid American English text rules. however, some may still think they get extra points for remembering all that crap. if it's crap, it can be easily automated.

the above "blue" rewritten by AI
The AI-written version above is an example of how technology can simplify the writing process. You can type out your thoughts, select the text, and an AI-crafted version will appear. This eliminates the hassle of adhering to the intricate rules of American English. Nevertheless, some might believe that there is value in remembering these rules, even if they seem trivial and are easily automated.

RV8 cowl inlet air dams are larger than the RV9 style. It's necessary to minimize their weight to ensure that the first flex frequency exceeds the blade passing frequency by at least 15%. Despite being a large component, it weighs only 39 grams. They should be located in the center of the cowl opening to achieve uniform CHT's. Then you can Rock On in the cold!

I seldom print in yellow, but the results are quite pleasing. If you were previously printing in black, make sure to thoroughly purge the nozzle with the new color to avoid any streaking of the old color.

8.5mm, 3-wire spark plug wire seals have been requested by three individuals, but I did not have them due to the hole cutout size being limited to a 1.125-inch diameter. I had not anticipated a need for this configuration, but it appears there is a demand. The hole diameter cutout size for these seals is 1.150 inches. Naturally, one could reduce the hole diameter and notch the edges for clearance. Hopefully, this information will be of use to someone. That's packing a lot of wire in a tight space. Just push the button. :)

I observed that the red-colored nylon/fiberglass elevator gust locks were staining the aircraft's paint in hot weather, so I switched to a natural-colored material. This new material is stronger and does not stain the paint in hot conditions. However, for safety reasons, it's advantageous to add some color to the gust locks if the aircraft is white. To achieve this, I applied red dye with a brush and allowed it to dry by hanging the locks upside down. paint may also work but I haven't tested it.

I've taken out the trusty old engine preheater for the winter. It's been reliable for 6 years—just 20 minutes of warming up, and it's ready to go.

I created a tip protector for the Estwing rock pick canopy breaker and it appears that I've inserted the tip directly into the hole. I'm considering creating slots in the sides of the protector and using a cord with a small diameter, so that the cord will be partially embedded within the protector.

I can't find these tip protectors listed online. I'll create a couple and send them to my friend Myron Cook to see if he finds them useful. The tips of these Estwing rock picks are extremely sharp, and the hole is designed for easy fitting when they dull.

Have you ever seen TIME? Let's look through the lens of geology. Myron Cook

I painted the upper surface of the elevator gust lock. The dye I applied didn't yield good results, so I switched to paint. I'm hoping it will adhere properly.

I attempted to improve the paint job on new set of elevator gust locks with one light coat, but unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. The capillary action of the printed parts caused the paint to move. Despite my efforts, it did not work.

Zizzo seat post stands are in demand. These stands distribute the load from the post, preventing the bike bag from wearing quickly and stabilizing the bike when folded. These stands are flexible and grip the seat post. These are the 14 deg option.

RV9 2-inch cowl inlet air dams.... defying the laws of printing. if you cut these open, you will find them to be hollow. minimum weight with a solid flange and a tapered thickness keeps the natural frequency response above the blade passing frequency. I fly with this type of air dam all winter and it helps to keep the CHTs up (and balanced temps) on cold days. for really cold days, I use the 2.5-inch. for high AOA, there is flow over the top.
