Adding yourself to the viewer map ....
The new User Map is now up and running. Hopefully this will allow us to acheive a better understanding of where we are in relation to each other and for the purposes of planning get togethers. Plus, its cool.
In order to add yourself to the map enter your geocode coordinates in the appropriate places in your profile.
Do not enter your literal lat/long in textual format, rather use the geocode of the location you want to mark. Note, enter W longitude with a negative number. There are plenty of spots on the web to get your geocode. I have a few listed below.
Airnav - Airnav generally provides the goecode for every airport it locates. Its listed right below the normal lat/long (the 3rd line.)
Info Sports - Info Sports will allow you to select any spot on the globe and it will in return give you the geocode for that location.
AJM Software - AJM will return the appropriate geocode for any given address.
Map icon's are color coded according to which RV you select in the selection box. Pick the one that applies to you, otherwise just leave it at "None".
When visiting the map you can click on a user name to have that person's marker info brought up. Likewise, clicking on any given marker on the map will cause it to bring up its info window identifying who it represents.
Have fun.

LOL!!! I was in China too. After I entered my data and went to the map I was thinking "Cool, someone from China is building a -8 too". That was until I realized it was me. I added the negative and I'm back in Colorado Springs.tshort wrote:I lived in China for about 10 minutes until I read closer and put west in as negative!

As of tonight (Friday), the breakdown of RV types by location is rather interesting. Two fours, both on the west coast, two sevens, both in New England, one nine center east coast, and four eights, right through the center of the country, with no mixing of types! I'm sure this will change as more people add their locations, but it sure looks weird right now.

There is no pleasing you John is there? Sheesh ...captain_john wrote:What about the A models? No breakdown in the list for them?

Breaking it down into the variants doubles the amount of markers and would get cluttered, not to mention a pain to keep up. So basically, the answer is no!

Hey Chad, Patt changed what she was going to post. What she was originally going to say was that negotiations are still on going

I am all by myself down here. Wish I was closer to you guys. I want to drink beer and eat with CJ to. Not that I wouldn't want to drink with you Spike. Matter of fact, I think you would drive me to drink.
Just kidding. Really wish I was closer.

you can also get the geocodes from http://www.wikimapia.org
For those who didn't know (like me), the way to get to where you input the map values is at the bottom of your USER PROFILE screen
