What is the difference between a "sensitive" and a "non-sensitive" altimeter?

The sensitive altimeter is the one you are used to: Three pointers and easy to read down to about ten feet.

Look through the Aircraft Spruce catalog and you will see altimeters with only one pointer. You can easily read these only to about one hundred feet.
