Tank questions

Post by tshort »

Mainly for Chad-
Have you leak tested your tanks yet? How did the alternate method work out?
How many of which size tubes did you use of the prepackaged proseal? Van's only sells the 3.5 oz "faster sealing" tubes. Is that the same stuff you used? (I seem to remember you saying you picked it up at work)

(I would have sent a PM but I figured others might be interested in this...)

You want to read the thing about proseal that Paul wrote. Spike put it here on the site someplace.

B-2 is whatcha want. Also, Aircraft $pruce has a better price than Van on the 6 ounce tubes. As I recall, Van doesn't stock B-2 in 6 ounce tubes.

Yeah, I mainly used B-2 in the 6oz cartridge. I did use some B-1/2 for short quick jobs in the little 3.5oz "dab kit". I used 6 of the cartridges and 3 dab kits. More than most people I would think. I used PR-1440 and PR-1422 in B-2 and B-1/2. 1440 and 1422 are the exact same thing, just different color, and I used whatever color we had on hand at the time. Pauls write up is in the Doc share area, and is a good read.

I still have not leak tested them. My plan was to do it right after Oshkosh, but I got going on the landing light project instead. As soon as the LE's are done and on the wing, I'll be leak testing the tanks. Hopefully by next weekend (11-12th).
