Aluminum dust ...
I was working on some stiffeners last night and was a bit amazed by how much aluminum dust is created when sanding and cutting this stuff. Im curious as to how you guys deal with it and if over time you are finding that it permeates everything ?

Well, I know how cats like to eat the tinsel off the Christmas tree. Ya know... how it dangles from the exhaust pipe the next day!
Well, it doesn't dangle from the dog, but I suppose it won't kill him as it is pretty much hypo-allergenic and somewhat soft.
He actually walks over and stands underneath the drill when he hears it going! The stuff falls all over his head!
I dunno. I am not a vet. I just try to keep him from eating it! Whatta goof!

Our cats are going to have a field day when building starts!Captain_John wrote:Yes, they also say it contributes to Alzheimers disease. I think my dog is daffy enough already! I really should curtail his appetite for airplane parts!

Aluminum being a heavy metal is very poisinous. Your body will deposit it into your bones until they can not take any more, then the aluminum will stay in your blood stream and poison your brain. Causing you to literally go crazy and or die. I am not sure if shaving are absorbed or passed through, but would seriously keep your dog away from them unless you know they are harmless.

I have good news since this was initially written.
For some reason, Wyatt isn't really interested in the shavings anymore.
That is a good thing and a bad thing all at the same time.
On the bad side, I tend to keep a messier shop now!
