Oh yeah. We were only up for about 40 minutes, as the snow storms were moving in. What a friggin great ride. Every other minute I was turning around to keep the airport in sight. SCHWEEEEEET.

Hey Spike you'll be thinking about that ride for a LONG time...just try and remember it the next time you're dilling out your 3 rivet of the day! Oh that's right, you havn't had to drill any out yet!
Hey how about other Rivertbangers?!? When was your first RV ride and what was it like??? Did it cause you to change your life and become an airplane builder? (Mine caused me to meet a community of people that caused me to become an airplane builder...or to be more accurate, an airplane sub-parts builder. It's a long way from being anything close to an airplane)

I decided to start building an RV-4 after I sat in an RV-4 that was built by a local older gentleman. After sitting in it I KNEW that was the airplane I wanted.N200PF wrote:Hey how about other Rivertbangers?!? When was your first RV ride and what was it like??? I didn't get my first ride in an RV until a year later. It was an RV-4 with a 180 horse motor and a CS prop. It was (and still is) the most amazing ride I've ever had in an airplane. I was building an RV anyway but that ride showed me that I had made the right decision. Now I can scarcely imaging flying any other kind of plane. Maybe when I'm older I'll go back to a Champ or Cub but for now, it's RVs for me!

I had my first and only ride in an RV this past spring, right before I became a builder. A great local guy took me up for a ride in his 6A. I'd never flown anything like that, what fun. We flew to a local field to see a 9A that was just completed. I had been on the fence for like 4 years but that one short ride sealed the deal! Also I got to meet a few other local builders. I think the people are as good as the airplanes.N200PF wrote:

A few short months later, I have a completed tail and 2 riveted wing skeletons! BTW - I used my tungsten bucking bar and have to drill out maybe 1 out of all the rivets. Love that little hunk of metal!!

I got my first RV ride in Scott's RV-8 with a 180hp with CS prop.
The acceleration down the runway was impressive.
At the time I owned a Grumman AA-1B with a 160hp fixed pitch.
It was a little faster than a 172, but no where near what the RV's can do.
A week or so after that ride, I ordered a tail kit for my own 8.
After I sold my Grumman, I got withdrawals for airtime, so I decided to do a co-ownership in an RV-4 to pacify me while I build my 8.
The picture below is the RV-8 (lead) that I got my first ride in.
I'm flying as 2 in the RV-4.

Here's the intended picture.. I had to rename it to work.
Thanks for your help though Spike
