It's kind of official. It's definitely jumping the gun a bit, but what the heck.

817 is easy. It's my birthday. As an added bonus it rolls off the tongue easy!

I'm having a really hard time picking a tail number. I can't use my initials, because I isn't allowed! Most of the good xxxRV numbers are taken, and "Romeo Victor" isn't as easy to say as I'd like.

I really want something fun, like N111CE, but of course all the cool ones I can think of are taken :)

Bah, pickin' tail numbers is hard!

The funny part is the number I got was my first (and only) submission.

I guess I just got lucky.

I thought about trying for something that had 949(949 is the serial number of my bearhawk) in it, but didn't want to be saying niner all the time.

Yeah, the number of syllables in the number is a big concern for me as well.

My cherokee has a great tail number: N500KC

It's very memorable, looks great on the tail, but it's a bit of a tongue-twister: five zero zero kilo charlie. It gets abbreviated to five-hunnert' kilo charlie pretty often both by me and by ATC, but we all know that's improper ;)

I thought about getting a 'sister' number to the cherokee, like 570KC, that way I can be in 'zero kilo charlie' no matter what I'm flying, but I don't think I really like that idea either.

I've probably got some 5+ years (more like 10+ at the rate I'm going) to get used to the number before I actually "need" it. For whatever reason. I wanted one, and decided that it was worth paying up for the reservation.

My wife thought I was nuts a few weeks ago as I sat in my easy chair chanting different number sequences out loud. It had to roll off the tongue easy. I'm pretty happy with what I got. But, if I have a change of heart I certainly have time to chad my mind. errr change my mind

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Good luck figuring out your number.

(Obligatory tail number story) Ours will be N202PJ -- it's the date we got married (02/02/02) and our initials. Sounds nice too:

two zero two papa juliet :)

Not quite -- I think the pronouncement was around 1:55. We almost made 2pm because the wedding started late; our guests were still pouring in at 1pm so we had a slight delay.
