We made it home and survived another Osh

Post by JohnR »

Pretty quiet around here. Any of you guys make it home yet?

It was good to see the crew at the Black Otter and then many of them again at the RV BBQ. Great time at both.

I finally got to shake CJ's hand and meet him face-to-face along with his better half. I felt like I already knew him and had almost forgot that I had never met him in person.

I also got to meet several others including Scott V and Guy who's AFS on his motorcycle must have worked pretty well as he made it to the Black Otter just fine.

It was good to talk with Spike and Patti again. Spike, glad we found your phone! You still thinking of changing things up a bit?

Chad and Brad arrived on Tue. and were camped pretty close to where we were. I never did get to see those photos you brought along Brad. :(

We ran into Paul for a little while both nights. Sounds liek that 8 is coming right along.

Three other RVers from Chapter 33, my EAA chapter, flew their RV's in and we sat with them at the RV BBQ. Tom Caruthers, from the board here, flew his 7A in and, Tom O my tech advisor, flying a 6A, and Steve C, 7A and working on an 8. I believe all had a good time.

I missed Jim Pappas at the Black Otter but we did meet at the RV BBQ on Wed. evening. Good to put a face with the name.

Several others I missed talking to and regret that, just not enough time to get around to everyone.

It was a fun time and I already look forward to next year. I hope some of the photos take nat the BO and RV BBQ show up on here.

Oh yeah, my friend Kevin who attended the RB get together on Tue went for a ride on Wed morning in the factory 9A. I think he is pretty well sold. I'll try to get hi on the board here in the near future. It'll give us another person to harass a little.

Luke and I both picked up a set of Halo headsets while we were there. I know Chad uses them and several others seemed to like them quite well. I thing they will be great, time will tell. Desser was supposed to ship my tires and tubes today also. I had deleted them from my finish kit as I wanted something other than what Van's sends. Good prices and nice friendly people. I recommend them.

Sorry this is so long. Hope everyone makes it home safely and are even more motivated than before. We actually got about 3 or 4 hours in today on the plane today. As they say, "One bite at a time."

John, It was good to finally meet you too! I know what you mean. I felt like I already knew you, although we had never met before.

Good choice with Desser Tire! They are great!

Looking forward to the next show!

Not Home Yet

Post by RV7Factory »

I'm currently holding at the Jensen compound in Normal, IL, but depart for Cali at Oh-Dawn-Thirty tomorrow morning.

It was great seeing all of you again or for the first time.

I took a bunch of embarrassing pictures at the Black Otter, and elsewhere, and will post them tomorrow PM.

JohnR... sorry, but I'll send you a link or two when I get home.

Same time same place... in 2008!!!!

PS - I now have a new call sign for Chad... 2-ply!!!!! :)

Patti & Spike just made it in. Next year we are taking the Cessna. Even flying the airlines it took 9 hours with the driving, etc.

Now back to finding my tank leak ... *sigh*

I made it home today around 3pm after leaving WI at 6am. It was nice getting to meet most of you. The Black Otter was fantastic, even though me and my posse got segregated. :( The RV BBQ was great also and my buddy Kevin won an AOA from AFS. This was probably one of the best OSH's I've attended. Much more fun when you actually know people there. I won't make it there next year (most likely) but looking forward to 2009! :)

Great meeting everyone at the Otter. Still some folks with whom I didn't get to meet - next time. Can't believe 170 lb Chad beat 225 lb me on the prime rib. :x Next time, oh little carnivore!

woo, finally home. What a loooong day! Departed OSH at 7am, and after racking up 11.1 hours on the World's Fastest Cherokee(tm), I am home safe.

Great meeting everyone this week, and I'm terribly sad it had to come to an end! I hope to get together with RB'ers more in the not too distant future!

We all need to build faster!

Commercial service is for people who can't fly!

We must break their ranks!

I always said that the best way to get to an airport is in an airplane!

Great time

Post by aparchment »

It was definitely a great time again this year.

I got to meet the tag team of Chad and Brad and thank them in person for their great web sites that are keeping me out of trouble.

My fellow nor'easters CJ and Dave Setser (Thermos) bailed me out on Thursday night when my non-aviation traveling companions wussed out mid afternoon leaving me without dinner company or a ride home. Thanks again guys! I thoroughly enjoyed you and the girls company at dinner. Maybe we should get a house next year?

I spent some serious time with the avionics and panel vendors this year and ended up buying my AFS 3500EE "A" kit. I packed it in my suitcase which Jet Blow handily lost somewhere between JFK and PWM. Fortunately they got it back to me today. I was about to start producing some scary receipts for them to deal with.

I will be doing everything in my power to fly private out to Osh next year. It really doesn't need to take 18 hours to get home from Osh. It would be 4 hours in the RV :x

I was pretty focused on the vendors, so didn't watch as many of the airshows as I would have liked. I still saw some good stuff. Anytime you get to watch Sean Tucker, Mike Goulian and Patty Wagstaff fly it's a good time. I was talking to the guys at the Superior booth when the Raptors started their show on Thursday. When they went into a full burner climb it set off all of the car alarms around which was quite amusing.

I had no clue about the crash until I watched TV back at the hotel that night. What a huge bummer. Then on the way home I heard about Jim Leroy. Very sad.

Great to meet everyone. See you all next year. I think I will come out earlier rather than for the tail end of the show.

Antony
