As expected you all have gotten me off my tail and back on the tail kit!After being away from the tail kit for almost two years and not having quite the skill level of the group at large, I gave a shot at meeting a technical counselor. I hit the EAA web site and picked one close by and I want to tell you it was a great visit.
I just wanted to have someone look at my parts preparation, general attention to detail and work habits before starting to prime and start banging rivets in ernest.
I know most of the group are pretty accomplished so I write this for those who may have more limited skills that visit the site. Do not hesitate calling on a technical counselor to invite to your workshop, share a coke with
and talk about the process. Do this early on if you have reservations about your knowledge skill level or have any questions at all. My counselor happens to be an AP with a significant backgrond in sheet metal work. (He is heavily involved in war bird restoration and is a war bird judge. ) He was friendly, paitent and full of helpful hints, tips and suggestions. If he is an example of the group of advisors as a whole, then this has got to be one of the finest resourses and services in the EAA!
The great news is that I am doing pretty well. No major problems, good work habits and good attention to detail according to Bill.
He had me shoot some practice rivits and offered a lot of great help and advice.I put in a plug for Rivet bangers and he confirmed that you guys are a great resource for those of us just starting out. Feel free to take a bow...
