Oh, okay!
Thanks Pascal!
I will take a look at it and devise a plan.
I am thinking of doing an aluminum box. Odyssey sells this one:
http://www.mooreparts.com/store/product ... -ODYSSEY-/
Lighter, non-corrosive and initially cheaper (not that price is really an issue).

I wouldn't buy this box CJ...
If you had an engine compartment fire at 10,000 MSL, the AL box would melt and allow the battery to fall off and could damage your lower cowl.

I would think an engine fire hot enough to melt an aluminum box at 10,000, the least of my worries would be a battery dropping and damaging a cowl?

I just found out that Odyssey has a PC680MJ model that has a steel metal jacket included with it -- about $135 on Ebay (including shipping). Van's sells the battery for $120, plus $50 for the mounting kit, plus shipping. You can easily save $50+ by going with the MJ!

Hey Mike, The MJ weighs more IIRC.
Why do you prefer it? It doesn't add structure, just impact resistance in say... an off road buggy.

CJ-
I like it for two reasons -- Price and WEIGHT. Yes, I like WEIGHT. I am tossing a lightweight WW prop on the front of my bird, so I don't mind porkin' up a couple of ounces on the firewall. Besides, the weight difference isn't that much -- 15.4 lbs for the MJ model and just under 15 lbs for the non-MJ model.

Gotcha...
Who is your ebay vendor?
I wanna look up the regular PC 680 and see of that is less than Van's price.

Hey all,
I just got my aluminum battery box from an ebay vendor. I like the product and you may too. Check it out here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ODYSSEY- ... enameZWD1V
He will be logging in and providing info for you all to buy them too for your planes if you are interested. I gave him this url and he will be signing up as a member.
Maybe he could give us a good deal on batteries too?
Watch for the thread!
