well
some would argue that when using the switches you will block the view of the instruments. but i have found in all the planes i fly that when i need to look for something i have to lean too the side to se around or under stuff.

						but kickin
well i suppose i shouldnt have given another rvator such a hard time. today i got my tail cut for a couple of hours...must have jinxed myself.
my remote compass was not talking to the dynon. i thought i found some wires in the wrong cavity but it was only because they were shorted
that they showed continuity. come to find out the harness made for me was mis made and the remote compass ground was shorted to the power wire, intentionaly.
when they made up the harness they grounded the white wire w/ the blue tracer to the shielded portion. after scratching my head for a while i started cutting open the shrink wraps to find the problem...
blurry pic but you can see the white/ blue wire soldered together.and that free white/blue wire was soldered to the ground with it, and in the power socket.

works now

"Draw liquid through a straw" ??? ok I’ll try that one on my students tomorrow
see how many of them catch it...I usually say s#!t through a straw but close enough..
I wired my starter solenoid, master and ammeter shunt. Fired everything up except the radios..Holy crap man now that is a milestone..
I can, for the first time, see the light at the end of the tunnel.

p- touch indeed. i made them then trimmed them really close. i did not want the time or expense of some of the nicer methods. this way i can change one if i need to. i did use the heavy duty tape. it seens quite a bit more durable than the standard tape . the ones around the c/b's are not framed because the spacing is so close there wasnt room. almost goofed that one up.

Thanks. Also, did you need to apply any coating over them? Is there a sheen compared to the background panel luster?

no coating..they look to be equal in sheen and work way better than i suspected. i used black on clear tz tape. i bought all of it off ebay. the tape was more the reconditioned printer. it all seemed to be brand new. got it from here
http://stores.ebay.com/Brother-P-touch- ... uides.html
many different tapes do use the tz tape however.
i hear the other tape is not very robust.

And I'll bet he enjoyed every minute of helping. He looks like a natural! Fits under there pretty well.weezbad wrote:well i must admit i hate to have to ask for help. but today i needed help and in my unrelenting desire to get something done i asked my 10 year old son to help....well he did and is 10 times a better listener than anyone else.whoda thunk it.. <snip>

What a great kid! Can I borrow him for a while?
he did love it . i didnt know you could have and rv grin for two hours from 10 minutes of building.
btw,
this kid eats breathes and sleeps airplanes and guns. especially likes them together
he is in the 5th grade and his current science project was one he had to come up with in a comparison format. he chose, on his own, to compare the flight charecteristics of swept, straight and delta wings.holy crap what a job that was. most of the other kids were comparinmg how seeds grow in different soils. we had to build 9 planes, 3 each style. we cheated a bit and bought the gliders from cracker barrell and modified the wings, launched them with a rubberband catapult and compared them. it was troublesome fun. he claims to be the engineer and i am the hired help....
