center section spacers

Post by tmbg »

Two spacer-related questions:

One, does anyone have a set of center section spacers (the 1 7/16" simulated spar dealies) that they're done with and could let me borrow?

Two, I tried to rivet on the thick spacer bars that get held to the aft center section bulkhead with a pair of AN426AD4-14 rivets, and the rivets are much too short. I had to drill them out a couple times and start over, and now the holes are enlarged very very slightly, but it's enough that over that massive length the little bit of rivet I do have just swells up inside and leaves ZERO length to form a shop head. I don't have any longer rivets on hand... anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to fix this?

sometimes you can put a longer rivet than what you need in a vise, and carefully put the squeeze to it to fatten it up and make it a bit shorter. YMMV

not quite finished with mine yet. :(

i would call vans on the rivet q. IIRC those rivets were just to hold the bars inplace untill the wings were installed....
william....don't let it beat you down, you are stronger than you think.
