When to order Fuse?

Trying to figure out when I Should order the fuse? I have the tanks built, the landing lights in. Spar is all countersunk. So I need to rivet the leading edges and then the top skins which are all deburred and dimpled. Then put the internals inside the wing, wiring etc. Build the flaps and ailerons and rivet the bottom skin. Lead time is two months and I consider myself a pretty slow builder, tho I work on it 6 days a week. I was thinking of putting in the order once I get the top skins riveted on. Wondering at what point others put there order in? I realize some people took time off in between. The lead time had been 2 months but I see it is almost 3 months right now. I realize I have alot of work left but i would like to get it here close to when the wings are done.

For what it is worth, My 8 QB fuse lead time was way off. I recieved order confirmation and a expected delivery of Feb/Mar. I got the fuse July 1.

I would order it early, it might give you a little incentive to finish the wings.

The wings took me about 6 months to build. The lead time of 2 months for the fuselage will give you plenty of time to do the flaps and ailerons. If you have more time to wait, then work on fitting the tips. That took me several weeks to get them done. I worked on fitting the tips when I was done with the fuselage and waiting for the finishing kit. I also did the bottom skins during that wait.

I ordered my fuselage when doing the LED wingtip lights, but I should have ordered earlier. As it was, I didn't have much to do for a month or so.

SB fuse ordered November 10, 2006, arrived January 25th, 2007.

I would rather have stuff waiting around to be installed than to have to wait for stuff to arrive.

That's the way I have done things so far. Good thing for me I am slow!

Assuming you know the answers to the pertinent questions, engine, landing gear configuration(where you put the little wheel) tip up or sliding canopy you can place the order. This is assuming storage of the fuselage kit isn't a problem. Good luck

I may have my airplane flying to Sioux Falls in the near future, if so I will see about hitching a ride and connect up with you.
