Wings are on!

Post by bruceh »

Spent my Saturday getting the garage rearranged and putting on the wings. I had help from another local RV-7A builder who had been through the process before. It took most of the day, but the results were outstanding. I put together a new photo gallery on my web site with all of the pictures and commentary.

This is looking awesome with the wings on!

My 3 car garage is just barely wide enough for the RV-9A's longer wings.

Wings are back on for good!

I'm progressing through the final assembly at the airport now and thought that I would update this thread with this picture:

This time around all of the 20 bolts are in. It took about 6 painful hours of contortions and cursing, but we got it done. Now on to some final wiring and rigging of the ailerons and flaps.

Bruce,

Looking great!

Say, that is one sweet looking hangar as well! What is the story there? Do you own it? Hmmmmm... Looks like there is room for an RV-7 in there too, for when I stop by!

I am right on your coattails! Project looks fabulous!

The hangar has a couple of other planes in there. I only rent a corner of it. The maintenance shop next door still has a bunch of their equipment and supplies in the hangar. Really cold (for San Diego) and drafty and noisy when the Santa Ana winds kick up like they have been recently. It definitely has the best view of the Ramona runway (north facing).

Bruce, maybe you better tie her down inside the hanger, if those drafts get extreme!
Seriously, that looks awesome! Especially with your new prop and all. Congrats!

I just google earth'ed it...

You must be on the south side on the approach end to 27?

Looks like a great place to watch the landings from!

My hangar is centerfield but I get the best views from runway 15/33. Nevertheless that is why I say, there is an airshow everyday at Hangar #5!

Again, Looks great Bruce!

Come out here when you are done! Vlad will entertain you! You can watch him eat all my food! hahaha

CJ,

Yes I'm on the south side of Ramona near 27.

I'll have to venture down to Plymouth the next time I'm in Boston. I try to time my occasional business trips there to miss winter and the sultry summers. I'll even buy Vlad a meal so he doesn't clean you out of food.
