Lanesboro MN, Root River Rafting - South Branch and biking....
It was a great four-day trip. When you can combine flying, rafting and biking on one compact trip it becomes very good. Lanesboro is a top biking destination, and the river is good for rafting beginners and offers some short Class II rapids. At one point I looked at my bike on the front of the raft and it was pointing straight upwards, but everything held together, and it was a blast. When you are finished rafting, put the raft on the bike and ride back on some very nice trails. To many pictures but I didn't take any on the raft because I didn't want to lose my phone. Yeah, I was nervous. Hey, if you like this kind of stuff, it's a destination. The quicksand is another story...
I rolled in late Sunday because of T-storm delay and all the restaurant kitchens were closed. Cliff bar to the rescue and I was happy.
Since I have lost about 20 lbs I seem to have more room in the pilot's seat. It feels better. I have my back rest on the middle rail to achieve some lean back.
The weather was perfect. It is better if you can choose the weather window for stuff like this. I left some money in the airport beverage donation can. It is a great airport, 55Y!
These are economical trips. A lot of bang for the buck. No car, no hotel, quiet campsite next to the river total $97, $4.50 good IPA beers, etc.
