DRDT-2 Dimpler -> Anyone have an opinion?

Post by N200PF »

It seems like a great idea but it's also a $325 idea. Has anyone tried it and have an opinion one way or another?

i really like it, but don't have one. CJ does, and i know he likes it! he'll tell ya all about it. :) i can't get myself to spring for it knowing that i built my c-frame for about $40. :o ...and it does a good job, it's just loud as hell.

It is great

Hello, I haven't posted before but am working on an RV7A and watch the boards for ideas and pointers. I bought the DRDT-2 head and built the frame from plans that come with it. The head was $137.50 I believe.

It is one of my best investments, right next to the pneumatic squeezer. :)

All the dimples are identical and very easy to control. I don't know if it is faster or slower to use as I have not ever used a c-frame.

The DRDT is exquisite. It's built like a tank and makes dimples so sweetly that I'm hard pressed to find superlatives enough to describe it.

Ditto, buy the head make the frame, just ensure you use the same or thicker material, not smaller, a good tool investment, if you have the steel around the head cost about the same as normal dimpler.

Yes, it is GREAT!

I, like JohnR, made it from plans. It is a wonderful tool! I dimpled my wing skins with it last week and it ROCKS!

It is truly the greatest thing since sliced bread!

My non-airplane driving buddy really liked using it and said dimpling was "FUN". Well lemme tells ya, on the sixth top skin (including the doublers) to get someone else in there and do the dimpling for ya, you need to make it fun for them!!!

Get it instead of the hammer one.
