Nose wheel "stops" plate

Guess I'll ask this question here also. The other group seems too busy.

In a different thread, a photo shows the nosegear swivel stop plate WD-631 mounted with the "stops" portion mounted to the rear. The Van's drawing I have (for the older gear leg and fork), DWG C1, shows the plate with the stops forward.

Which is right or more correct? Or is this a new fork versus old fork thing?

It would seem the difference would just be less angular displacement of the trailing nose wheel.

The correct position for the nose wheel stop bracket according DWG C-1 Nose wheel Installation show the bracket facing forward and the 1/4-20 Socket Head (Allen Head)Screws mount in the nose wheel fork behind the nosewheel leg. My kit was shipped in 2004.

Sure looks to me that the bracket forward would be correct. You wont get much steering otherwise. Though that is just a shot from the hip.

Yes, I agree and that's the way I put mine. But I have seen several of them reversed and just want to make sure there are no hidden "lessons learned" lurking somewhere.
